MILLEDGEVILLE — The Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce, educators, students and area supporters celebrated the opening of the Baldwin High School GIVES Center with a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday.

Located in the Baldwin College & Career Academy, Baldwin GIVES is the second satellite center of the Georgia College GIVES (Georgia College Involved in Volunteer Efforts).

Featured speakers included Georgia College GIVES Director Kendall Stiles, City Councilwoman Dr. Collinda Lee, Georgia College Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Bruce Harshbarger, Communities In Schools of Milledgeville-Baldwin County Executive Director Sandy Baxter, BHS Assistant Principal Dr. Jeremy Dockery, BHS CTAE Director Teresa Phillips and BHS Health Occupations instructor Wilhemenia Wade.

‘So far Baldwin High has logged 1,400 hours and 46 students are registered with GIVES,’ Wade said. ‘I’m amazed and I know in a year or so it will be tremendous.’

BHS students operating GIVES, including Kadeidra Choice, director, Tamarariel Simmons, data entry collector, and Chelsey Adams, public relations, each received a Baldwin GIVES shirt, name tag and coffee mug.
