GCS, Papa John’s partnership supports cancer patients

MILLEDGEVILLE —

Now aiding nearly 190 cancer patients in the central Georgia area, Georgia Cancer Support (GCS) is encouraging pizza lovers to help support individuals battling the deadly disease in a delicious way.

“The needs are great, and it would be so great to raise funds for these cancer patients,” said Robbie White, founder of GCS.

For the second year, GCS is partnering with nine Papa John’s Pizza locations across middle Georgia, including Dublin, Macon, Milledgeville and Warner Robins.

Customers ordering a large, three-topping pizza online for $10 can enter the coupon code GCS10 and Papa John’s will donate $1 to the local nonprofit. The deal can only be redeemed online from July 1 through Aug. 31.

“Last year we did this fundraiser for one month, and we were able to raise $3,200. Papa John’s is a powerful business entity in our state, and this partnership will allow us to help any cancer patient in need in middle Georgia,” White said. “Right now we have 187 cancer patients and counting. We’re averaging four to five per week that need help with transportation, prescriptions, food and other needs they have.”

As the director of operations for the participating Papa John’s locations, Ray Turner encourages the community to take advantage of the limited-time deal while helping to save lives.

“I myself have had members of my family who have had cancer. Papa John’s is proud to support the Georgia Cancer Support group in middle Georgia,” Turner said. “[GCS] provides a much needed service in our community, providing support and resources for Georgia cancer patients and their families.”

White is grateful for donations and support of the community and area businesses, including Georgia Power Co., Golf Cart City, Grimes Signs, Woodmen of the World, GlobalTec LED Displays of Macon and D’s Tees of Gwinnett County.
