MILLEDGEVILLE — Baldwin County detectives are investigating an armed robbery where the victim’s hands were bound and his weapon was stolen by an armed assailant.
According to Capt. Brad King, a 911 call came in around 11:10 a.m. Thursday in reference to a woman requesting assistance for a man at a Lake Drive location. According to the caller, while driving along the area, a man ran up to her car screaming for help. His hands were tied behind his back with a pair of neckties.
“She untied the man and immediately called 911,” said King. “Detectives were dispatched to the location to began processing the scene.”
According to the victim, the incident was initiated when he heard a knock at his door. When he attempted to open the door, the door was pushed open by a man with a T-shirt tied around his head to disguise his identity.
“The victim said he also had on black cloth like gloves similar to a pair of work gloves,” King said.
The unknown man was holding a 9mm handgun and forced the victim into the bedroom. His hands were then bound with two neckties. He then proceeded to take from the residence an undisclosed amount of change and a 9mm handgun owned by the victim.
Upon investigation, detectives were able to find several pieces of physical evidence.
“We located to broken cell phones and articles of clothing from the suspect,” said King.
A witness informed detectives that a man fitting the description of the suspect was seen heading toward Harrisburg Road. The articles of clothing have been forwarded to the crime lab for processing. The case is ongoing as detectives follow up on leads.
