Georgia College's College of Education will host the annual Regional History Day Competition Friday, March 7.
More than 200 middle and high school students from the region will display their projects in hopes of moving on to the state competition.
This year's theme is "Rights and Responsibilities in History." Student's presentations include exhibits, performance, documentaries, web sites and research papers that follow the theme.
"The competition is for students with a special interest in history," said Dr. Trish Klein, director of the regional competition. "We have faculty from different departments on campus that judge each category, and several of our students also volunteer to help with the logistics of the program."
Students from the following counties will take part in the annual History Day Competition: Bibb, Baldwin, Gwinnett, Henry, Putnam and Washington.
The presentations begin at 9:30 a.m., and awards will be given out at 1 p.m. in Magnolia Ballroom.
