Open house set for Broun district office

MILLEDGEVILLE —

An open house is slated for Thursday to welcome residents to the new district office for U.S. Congressman Paul Broun. Broun’s Milledgeville office is located on the fourth floor of the Powell Building at the Central State Hospital campus, 620 Broad St.

Broun will host an open house for residents who are eager to see the new location and to meet with their member of Congress.

“I am pleased to announce that our Milledgeville District Office is now open and operating,” said Congressman Broun. “Our new office will be open three days a week and provide the same services as our Athens District Office. I invite everyone in the Milledgeville area to stop by our open house for some refreshments and to check out our newest facility. I look forward to personally welcoming residents to the office and hope to see y’all there.”

Broun announced in 2013 that he will leave his U.S. House seat at the end of the term in December as he plans to run for U.S. Senate this year.

The Congressman seeks to ascend to the seat currently held by Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss, who announced last year that he is not seeking another term.

Broun, who is lives in Athens, was elected to represent Georgia's 10th Congressional district in 2007. The 10th district currently stretches from the state's northern border south to Greensboro and east to Augusta. Under the redrawing of the state's congressional districts, the 10th now includes Baldwin County.
