Early traffic, weather and community news for your day

MILLEDGEVILLE — Good morning. Here’s a look at what’s happening today.

Traffic:

GDOT work continues on Highway 441 North. Single lane closure for roadway crack sealing; State Route 29, mile marker 3.37-9.22.





Weather: 





Patchy fog early then sunny. Highs in the lower 90s.West winds 10 to 15 mph. Tonight. Clear in the evening then becoming partly cloudy. Lows in the upper 60s. Northwest winds up to 10 mph.

On this day:

Just in time for the holiday weekend, it’s National Barbecue Month, to encourage people to start barbecuing early in the season when daylight saving time lengthens the day. 

Best bet for today:

Georgia Military College holds the grand opening for The Kidd Center, its new $17 million health and wellness facility, on today at 10 a.m. at 240 S. Elbert St. adjacent to the Cordell Events Center.

Upcoming events:

The third annual Ingram Memorial 5k Run/Walk will be held at the CSH campus in the pecan orchard Saturday, May 31. The event will begin at 8 a.m. For information contact Barbara Ingram Stone, bingram1st@yahoo.com or 360-909-1739. The website for the event is www.meltingram.com. Registration begins at 6:30. The registration fee is now $25. The event is a fundraiser to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease and to support the Bill Ingram Jr. and Lt. Col. (Ret.) Ingram USMC Scholarship Fund.
