AUGUSTA — To help with the merger of two state universities in Augusta, officials are looking to students, staff and alumni to decide new school colors, a logo and a seal.

The Augusta Chronicle ( ) Monday reported the consolidation of Augusta State University and Georgia Health Sciences University will likely be approved in early January. The new school will be named Georgia Regents University.

Officials told the newspaper the school's logo will include the initials "GRU" and the word "Augusta." In October, a group met with Gov. Nathan Deal and the state board of regents to campaign for keeping "Augusta" in the new school's title.

Over 46,000 students, staff and alumni have been asked to participate in the survey. Officials expect to announce results of the survey on Thursday.
