More than 100 low-income senior citizens in Baldwin and Jones counties received four fresh produce items of their choosing for free using a $20 voucher during the annual Senior Farmers’ Market Friday morning at the Collins P. Lee Center in the Harrisburg neighborhood.
Palmer Elias Farm LLC of Sparta was the sole participating vendor offering seasonal fruits and vegetables, including onions, sweet potatoes, peaches, tomatoes, collards, cabbage and cantaloupe.
This year’s Senior Farmers’ Market was a joint effort of the Middle Georgia Regional Commission Area Agency on Aging, Baldwin County Parks and Recreation Department, Milledgeville Community Garden Association and First Presbyterian Church.
