Milledgeville interactive audio tour wins marketing award

MILLEDGEVILLE — The Milledgeville Convention & Visitors Bureau was recently awarded “Best New Marketing Campaign” for its interactive smartphone tour by the Historic Heartland Travel Association. 

The awards are given biennially and are chosen from a pool of nominations within the 19-county Historic Heartland region.

The interactive smartphone tour was chosen for the coveted award by a select group of advertising and marketing leaders within the travel and tourism industry. The award signifies Milledgeville’s consistent goal to stay ahead of emerging technology trends and to capture new audiences. The smartphone tour caters to the tech-savvy traveler who is aspiring to have an experience like none other as they are able to virtually walk through Sherman’s footsteps. Individual tours are launched by scanning a QR code specifically designed for the specific tour.

The award also comes on the heels of being named one of the top 10 “South’s Most Creative Small Towns” as ‘Best Literary Town’ by Garden & Gun magazine.
