BHS science fair winners prepare for regionals

MILLEDGEVILLE — The winners of the 2013 Baldwin High School Science Fair were announced Monday.

In the category of life science, first place went to Mick Chandler for ‘Why Some Like It Hot,’ second place went to Morgan Pendergast for ‘Put A Cork In It,’ third place went to Taryn FourBear and Neil Dayang for ‘Hyped Up Night Thrills,’ and honorable mentions went to Brentavious Cooper for ‘Goldfish Training’ and Hayley Horton and Julia Lewis for ‘Healthy vs. Junky’ in a tie.

Within the physical science projects, first place went to Keleigh McGill for ‘Really Exact or Rayleigh Exact,’ second place went to Morgan Crooms and Jolena Yao for ‘The Chemistry of Crystallization,’ and a third place tie went to Andrew Parker for ‘Spatters that Matter’ and Kaylee Keeton and Dylan Davis for ‘Salt vs. Icy Roads.’

Students will compete at the regional science fair held at Georgia College next month.

Students also having the opportunity to represent Baldwin High at regionals include Ra’Kevia Cummings and Michelle Pham for ‘Lip Balm Testing,’ Ellis Van de Mark for  ‘AnGoals,’ Mariah Manoylov for ‘Just in Casein,’ and Keeley Reynolds and Samaria Simmons for ‘Balloon Bloom.’
