MILLEDGEVILLE — Milledgeville City Council appointed eight people to the Central State Hospital Development Authority Tuesday evening based on a recommendation by Milledgeville Mayor Richard Bentley.
Dudley Rowe, Russ Walden, Quay Hurt Fuller, Bruce Vaughn, Dr. John Ferguson, Dr. Nolan Stephens, Dr. Stanley (Stas) Preczewski and Dr. George Martinez were named to the authority from a pool of 20 people considered for the board.
The re-use initiative proposes the transition of the aging campus into a health care center that would provide educational and health care delivery on a regional scale by building and utilizing partnerships with existing health care systems and entities like Georgia College.
Milledgeville City Planner Mike Couch said the strategy in appointing the board was to build a coalition to guide this process as it begins to take shape.
