Morning Update for Friday, April 18

MILLEDGEVILLE — Good morning. Here’s a look at what’s happening today.





Weather: 





A chance of showers in the morning then showers in the afternoon. Locally heavy rainfall possible in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 50s. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of Rain 90 percent. Friday night showers in the evening then showers likely after midnight. Locally heavy rainfall possible in the evening. Lows in the upper 40s. Northeast winds around 15 mph. Chance of Rain 80 percent.

Today is Good Friday. It’s also the kickoff for Consumer Awareness Week, a weeklong event aimed at advising and helping consumers with their rights. 

Best bet for today:           

All non-emergency city and county departments will be closed in observance of Good Friday. But stop by the Sallie Ellis Davis House and check out the latest exhibit, showcasing the exhibit “Prominent Black Educators.” Tickets are $3 for adults, $2 for seniors; university faculty, staff and students are free. For information call 478-445-4545.

Upcoming events:

The Oconee Valley Iris Club will hold its annual Spring show at the Milledgeville Mall. Entries will be accepted from 7:45 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday and judging will begin at 11. The show is free and open to the public from 1 p.m. to 4:30. Irises will be on sale at a bargain price.
