Today is Good Friday. It’s also the kickoff for Consumer Awareness Week, a weeklong event aimed at advising and helping consumers with their rights.

All non-emergency city and county departments will be closed in observance of Good Friday. But stop by the Sallie Ellis Davis House and check out the latest exhibit, showcasing the exhibit “Prominent Black Educators.” Tickets are $3 for adults, $2 for seniors; university faculty, staff and students are free. The Oconee Valley Iris Club will hold its annual Spring show at the Milledgeville Mall. Entries will be accepted from 7:45 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday and judging will begin at 11. The show is free and open to the public from 1 p.m. to 4:30. Irises will be on sale at a bargain price.
