UPDATE: Armed robbery, ag assault suspect arrested

MILLEDGEVILLE — A woman wanted for robbery and aggravated assault in connection to the beating of a female victim has been apprehended.

According to an alert update issued by Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, 30-year-old Kristin McGhee was arrested just after midnight during a traffic stop on Hancock Street.

Officers responded to an Underwood Road address Wednesday morning in reference to an argument over family property. Police say McGhee informed officers that she had been in an argument with her family over some property that she claimed was left to her by another family member. The family owns Video Bazaar on South Elbert Street.

McGhee was advised that the disagreement was a civil matter and was seen leaving the residence.

At approximately 9:06 a.m. Wednesday, dispatch received a 911 call from Video Bazaar.

According to Hill, the officer found the victim, McGhee’s grandmother, behind the counter, unresponsive and severely injured. EMS was notified and arrived on scene shortly thereafter. The victim had been beaten about the face, head, arms and midsection area with a baseball bat, according to law enforcement. The alleged weapon was found near the area where the assault had taken place.

As of press time Wednesday evening, the victim remained in critical condition at the Medical Center of Central Georgia.
