Local GOP hosting Congressional candidate tonight

MILLEDGEVILLE — The Baldwin County Republican Party will host Gary Gerrard, who is running for Georgia’s 10th District Congressional seat, at its monthly meeting tonight from 6 to 7 p.m.

The meeting will be held at The Cottages located at 1010 Fernwood Drive in Milledgeville. Directional signage will lead attendees to the clubhouse.

Gerrard is an Athens native running to replace U.S. Rep. Paul Broun, who has vacated his seat in order to join the U.S. Senate race.

According to his campaign website, Gerrard has always demonstrated a great passion for public service, which is what has impelled him to pursue his United States Congressional campaign. His experience involves a variety of areas including law, small business, urban planning and non-profit organizations devoted to alleviating poverty.

He served as chairman of the Oglethorpe County Development Authority from 1998-1999. As chairman, Gerrard proposed a unification of the water systems of the small cities in the county, which only recently has been accomplished.

Tonight’s meeting is open to the public. Refreshments and fellowship will follow the meeting.
