Oak Hill recognizes science fair winners

MILLEDGEVILLE —

The winners of the Oak Hill Middle School Science and Engineering Fair were announced and awarded Monday.

In sixth grade, first place went to Nathan Mitchell and Charles Lam for ‘Investigating Apple Preservation with Natural, Liquid Preservatives,’ second place went to Antavious Brookins and Michael Harden for ‘Paper Air Planes,’ third place went to Mollie Speights and Marvicia Smith for ‘The Fastest Way to Cool a Soda,’ and honorable mentions went to Kaya Larkin, Emprise Armstrong, David Grimes, Amiya Northern and Emma Holder.

In eighth grade, first place went to Aleaha Jones, Samantha Tuttle and Victoria Young for ‘Luscious Lips,’ second place went to Kaylee Brooks, Callie Buchanan and Taylor Hudson for ‘Tye Dye,’ and a third place tie went to Gracie Lingold and Amber Allen for ‘Fish n Bait’ and Arthur Raber for  ‘Rainbow Fire.’ Honorable mentions are Payton Waddell, Britney Brown, Tristan Fietkau, Andreas Smith, Joshua James, Cecilia Ruiz, Shamya Shinholster, Amya Beckom, Deloria Boone and Makenna Braxton.

"We would like to thank all the students who participated this year," said Markeeta Clayton, coordinator of the school science fair. "They all did a good job."

Students will compete at the regional science fair held at Georgia College Friday, Jan. 31.
