The Oconee Area Fair’s opening night was postponed by one day due to transportation issues.
“The fair came from Walton County and they had some transportation issues getting here,” said Matt Goins, fair coordinator. “We didn’t want to rush to get everything put up and not have ample time to properly test all the rides, so we decided to open one day late. There are no issues with the rides; it’s just about them getting here on time.”
The annual fair, presented by the Milledgeville Exchange Club, is scheduled to open at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Walter B. Williams Park and close at 10 p.m.
“We will have $1 night which costs $1 per ride and $1 for the gate fee,” Goins said.
On Thursday from 6 to 10 p.m., fair-goers can purchase one ride bracelet and get one free. The fair is slated to open from 6 p.m. to midnight Friday and conclude Saturday, open from 1 p.m. to midnight. All regular ride bracelets are $20 and the gate fee is $5.
Put on by the Milledgeville Exchange Club annually since 2007, proceeds from the fair benefit local organizations and programs.
