Green Market holds summer opening at pavilion

MILLEDGEVILLE — The Green Market, Milledgeville's local and sustainable market, will hold its welcome summer celebration this Saturday — the first day of summer — from 9 a.m. to noon at the market pavilion on Hancock Street.

The finest summer vegetables are now ready at market - squash, cucumbers, grass fed beef, peaches, blueberries, artisan baked bread, plus flowers, milk, jams and jellies, and fresh scones.

At 10 a.m. the Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting to celebrate the Green Market's move to its new community location.

There also activities for young and old alike. It'll be face painting and sidewalk chalk, chair massage from Dr. Tracy and Dr. Sherry, plus a wide variety of craft vendors that will sell items for the whole family.

For more information about the Greenway market, like the Greenway Farmers Market Facebook page.

Farmers from the middle Georgia area will be on site offering sustainably-grown seasonal vegetables, meats and dairy products, jams, jellies, herbs and artisan breads.
