Local mother, entrepreneur named top ‘40 under 40’

MILLEDGEVILLE — Though born in Macon, Danielle Fields has called Milledgeville her true hometown since her high school years at Baldwin High School. Now running a successful business from what initially began as a hobby, the 31-year-old devotes time to various community initiatives while balancing a family with three children.

Fields’ dedication to the local community as an entrepreneur has made her one of the honorees distinguished as the 2013 “40 Under 40-Best and Brightest” by Georgia Trend magazine. For the 17th year, Georgia Trend presented a group of 40 outstanding Georgians under the age of 40 who represent business, government, politics, nonprofits, science, conservation and education.

“I’m thankful to Georgia Trend for giving me this honor,” Fields said, “and I’m excited to promote Milledgeville in Georgia Trend.”

The 40 were chosen from nominations made by readers throughout the state, and final selections were made by the Georgia Trend editorial staff. Milledgeville Main Street Director Carlee Schulte nominated Fields for the award.

“[Fields] has been a huge asset to me and the Main Street program,” Schulte said. “The whole Main Street program has benefited from the hours she’s put in.”

Fields graduated in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Georgia College, where she married the love of her life — Michael.

“I worked at Georgia College’s Continuing Education Department where I did event planning for all types of events and activities after graduation,” Fields said. “I had been a youth minister since I was 17 years old, and I stopped in 2006 when Michael took over my position. He was asked to resign in 2010 right after I quit my job at Georgia College to be a stay-at-home mom.”

With no income flowing in, Fields turned her passion for photography into a full-time business. The husband and wife team opened Fields Photography and Framing in downtown Milledgeville during 2010 Deep Roots weekend. The duo has since expanded their business offerings by implementing a painting class and tuxedo rental shop.

The article about Fields and her fellow honorees can be seen in the October 2013 issue of Georgia Trend.

“My wife is awesome. This award is no surprise to me; I’m waiting on the Nobel,” her husband Michael said. “It’s very refreshing to see her hard work recognized. It’s been a long, hard road and by no means have we arrived. I’m immensely proud of her.”
