Firehouse Subs is set to officially open for business at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 22.

With only equipment installation, store clean up, and training of the 30 part time and full time employees left to complete, the Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. prior to the grand opening.

The restaurant chain will serve up its famous hot specialty subs, including the New York Steamer, Engineer, Hook & Ladder and Firehouse Hero.

A mural painted by Firehouse Subs artist Joe Puskas is displayed on the wall featuring the Milledgeville Fire Department truck, the Trojans and Braves playing a game at the front gates of Georgia Military College while Owner William McComb’s unborn nephew cheers on.

Through the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, the nonprofit provides funding, equipment and educational opportunities for first responders and public safety organizations.

‘I appreciate the local fire departments for donating gear to be used as decor in the restaurant,” McComb said. “The foundation is one of the reasons I chose to bring Firehouse Subs to Milledgeville. In Georgia, they’ve given $580,000 to different public safety entities, and have donated $5.7 million nationwide.’

Located in the old Blockbuster building next to Domino’s Pizza, Firehouse Subs is scheduled to be open from Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., and Friday and Saturday until 10 p.m.
