The Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce and the Milledgeville Country Club are once again hosting the 18th annual Golf Classic tournament while introducing Super Business After Hours featuring a mini business expo with vendors from the surrounding area to serve as the Chamber’s biggest fundraiser of the year.
“It’s going to be a great fun day of connecting,” Chamber Investor Relations Director Ashley Marcott said. “Proceeds from the fundraiser will support programs, events and initiatives the Chamber advocates for everyday.”
Slated Monday, April 15, teams consisting of area golf enthusiasts will tee off at noon with a shotgun start followed by lunch catered by the Goodie Gallery.
The Super Business After Hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at which more than 20 vendors will be on site at the mini-expo while the Life Enrichment Center’s Black & White Gallery will be showcased and the Eric Dodd Band provides live entertainment. Dinner, cocktails and awards will also be provided. Entry to the evening’s activities cost $10 per person. A limited number of spots are still available for vendors interested in participating in the mini-expo. The deadline to register is Friday, April 5.
“Milledgeville hasn’t had a business expo in years. This is a great opportunity for businesses to take advantage of running their promotions and roll out things within their company to the community. There are a lot of new businesses and new people to meet and get to know,” Marcott said. “To me, this is one of those things that shows the community that Milledgeville is doing good. Even though we’ve lost industry and Georgia Power is closing, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. There are businesses here that need to be shown off so we can promote shopping locally to keep money here.”
Golf ball drop tickets can be purchased at the Chamber office, from a board member or an ambassador for $5 per ticket, or $10 for three tickets. The winner will receive a prize up to $1,500 in cash.
Various prizes will be up for grabs for winners of putting contests, including longest drive and closest to the pin.
This year’s sponsors include Bughouse Pest Control, Walmart, The GEO Group, Zschimmer & Schwarz and Wilkinson Insurance. Businesses interested in becoming a sponsor can purchase a colored tee sign.
“Last year’s turn out was great. We had 32 teams of business professionals from all over the region. We’ve got several new teams this year and a lot of entrepreneurial spirit,” Marcott said. “We encourage the community to support these local businesses, some of which are new to town, and show them what we’re made of.”
