Local NFL star provides Thanksgiving lunch

MILLEDGEVILLE — Seattle Seahawks defensive linebacker and Milledgeville native Leroy Hill hosted a Thanksgiving lunch for 100 less fortunate at Golden Corral on Thanksgiving Day.

The 100 people fed were selected by the Milledgeville social services. Hill is the majority owner of the Milledgeville Golden Corral, located at 1913 N. Columbia St.

“This is the time of year to be thankful for how fortunate you are,” Hill said via press release. “I wanted to give thanks by giving back to those in my hometown who aren’t as fortunate by making sure they had a good meal to eat on Thanksgiving Day. Hopefully this meal will make their holidays a little bit brighter.”

Hill grew up in Milledgeville and attended Baldwin High School before heading off to Clemson University. Upon leaving Clemson, he was drafted with the 34th pick of the third round of the 2005 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks. Having completed his 8th season out of the University of Clemson, Hill has been a significant contributor for the Seattle Seahawks.

Hill and fellow rookie Lofa Tutapu were two of the biggest contributors to the 2005 Seahawks team that went to Super Bowl XL. Hill was named to the Pro Bowl that year, but was unable to participate due to an ankle injury. In the 2009 off season, Hill was tagged as the Seahawk’s franchise player.
