A car chase between a Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office unit and 24-year-old Christopher J. Brown Saturday night led to a charge of fleeing and attempting to elude for the local man.
Around 2 p.m. Saturday, a BCSO patrol unit attempted to serve Brown with a warrant. According to Lt. Michael Lumpkin of the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office, during the chase to apprehend Brown, speeds exceeded 100 miles per hour.
“Lt. Willie Knight called off the pursuit because it did not warrant putting the public in danger with such high speeds on the road,” said Lumpkin.
A lookout on Brown's whereabouts was issued Monday morning and then canceled around 1 p.m. the same day. Brown was arrested in Wilkinson County and taken to the McIntyre Police Department. He was transported to the BCSO around 2 p.m. and is currently held at the Baldwin County Law Enforcement Center.
“He may have additional charges placed on him in Wilkinson County, but we're still putting it all together,” said Capt. Brad King of BCSO.
