Power tools stolen from construction truck

MILLEDGEVILLE — A local construction business was burglarized sometime Tuesday evening.

An estimated $2,781 worth of power tools, hand tools and a vehicle battery were snatched from Dyer Construction at 2351 River Ridge Road.

The Milledgeville Police Department was dispatched to the business at 7:16 a.m. Wednesday.

The responding officer said the complainant walked to a white 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 parked at the back of the business behind a locked gate, according to the police report.

“I observed the driver’s side window busted completely out, and the hood of the vehicle open,” the officer said.

The complainant stated that the vehicle was parked at the location at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. When the man returned, he discovered the damage and property taken.

Stolen property included a Stihl saw, saw blade, Bosch Rotary hammer, drill bits and case, Kobalt cordless drill, bits and case, circular saw, hammer, gas can with one gallon of mixed gas and the Chevy’s battery.

Maj. Reggie Hill, MPD’s chief investigator, said the entering autos have slowed down to pockets every now and then so far this year. Last fall, the city had countless break-ins for similar items.

The police are concerned with the type and number of power tools stolen. MPD has dealt with several commercial business type burglaries of late.

Hill said MPD needs help on this one.

“There is a problem with this location and the possible avenues where someone can go in and leave without being scene,” he said.

Anyone with information or leads regarding the burglary is asked to call MPD at 478-414-4413.
