GC GIVE Center mark 500,000th hour with silly string

MILLEDGEVILLE — Student volunteers, Georgia College staff and community supporters convened at the GIVE Center Wednesday to celebrate the 500,000th volunteer hour mark.

Junior accounting student Graham Harwood, who helped the center reach the 500,000th hour goal, was doused in silly string as a fun way to show appreciation and recognize his accomplishments.

‘It's humbling to receive such credit when no credit was wanted,’ said Harwood, who currently accumulated 267 volunteer hours. ‘I could not be happier to be the guy that actually got the recognition for this.’

Of those in attendance included GC Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Bruce Harshbarger, GC Associate Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Paul Jahr, GC Campus Life Director Tom Miles, GIVE Center Director Kendall Stiles, Oconee Prevention Resource Council Executive Director Judith Keim and Sonic Drive-In Milledgeville General Manager Ross Waller.

As the event sponsor, the local Sonic restaurant provided free corn-dogs and limeades.
