Georgia Military College will host its Alumni Weekend today and Saturday at the main campus in Milledgeville.

With the theme “The path that takes you away also brings you back,” Alumni Weekend and reunion activities will allow alumni the opportunity to enjoy fellowship with friends, reminisce about old times and catch up on the great new things happening at GMC.

Thursday, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held for the opening of the GMC exhibit, “Duty, Honor, Country” at Georgia’s Old Capital Museum. The exhibit will be open through November.

The alumni registration tent is scheduled to open today at the south gate entrance. Book signings for two GMC alumni will be held from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the Sibley Cone Library. Dr. George Coletti and Bailey Davidson will both sign copies of their books. Alumni Awards Presentations, GMC Alumni and Foundation Board Meeting and the Oak Leaf Society Induction will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Legislative Chamber. An Italian dinner feast catered by The Willis House begins at 7:30 p.m. in the main tent followed by musical entertainment by The Bob Huellemeier Orchestra.

The registration tent opens again at 9:30 a.m. at the south gate entrance. An alumni parade begins at 10:30 a.m. featuring the 131st Corps of Cadets on Grant Parade. Alum Liz Garvis Fabian will speak.

The GMC Junior College football team faces off against Louisburg College at 2 p.m. on Davenport Field. Following the game heavy hors d’oeuvres catered by Pig in a Pit begin at 7 p.m. in the main tent followed by live entertainment by The Grapevine.
