1 to 2:30 p.m.: Falun Gong offered at Central City Park (formerly Bonner Park) picnic area. Cultivate mind and body with five sets of easy-to-learn exercises suitable for all ages and all physical conditions. Classes are free. (478) 453-4241
2 p.m.: The 2008 Sweetwater Festival Committee meets in the Executive Chambers of Milledgeville City Hall.
3 p.m.: The MainStreet Board of Directors meets in the MainStreet offices. Call (478) 414-4014 for information.
4 p.m.: The Mohawk Faith-Based Committee will meet in Mohawk Conference Room on Roberson Mill Road.
6 p.m.: The Oconee Regional Medical Center/Oconee Regional Health Systems, Inc. Board will hold their monthly meetings in the Administrative Suite Board Room.
6:45 p.m.: Peter (Pete) Lewis Whitebird, a Christian country entertainer, presents a concert at Gordon United Methodist Church, 130 Main St. in Gordon. There is no charge for this concert and the community is invited to attend. A family night supper begins at 6 p.m. Those interested in attending the supper should call the church office at (478) 628-2943 for reservations and cost of the meal.
7 p.m.: Authors Derek Alderman and Jennifer Jensen Wallach will be joined by local historian Sandra Jones & GCSU historian Bob Wilson for “Remembering the Civil Rights Movement and Segregation,” a lecture, book signing and conversation at Allen’s Market on McIntosh Street. The event is free and open to the public. This event is part of the Milledgeville NEA “Big Read” program.
