Saturday, Oct. 4
9 a.m.: The Bicycling Club of Milledgeville hosts young riders for a youth mountain biking event at Bartram Forest Trails off of Carl Vinson Road. All riders are welcome. The ride is part of a nationwide celebration known as Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day supported by the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA). 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: WellCare of Georgia will sponsor a Fun Fair in Milledgeville along with Kids First Pediatrics to welcome and introduce their new pediatrician, Dr. Bowers, to the practice and the community at Kids First Pediatrics, 111 Fieldstone Drive. The event is open to all elementary school-age children and their families. The fair will feature games, prizes, Welby the WellCare Bear and a bounce house, along with food and drinks. WellCare will also offer a health education booth and promote the importance of immunizations for kids.
Noon to 2 p.m.: Calling All Cooks cook-off contest will be held at the Milledgeville Mall. The community is invited to come out and judge the competition. The event is sponsored by The Union-Recorder and winners will be featured in the holiday edition of the Milledgeville Scene magazine.
Noon to 5 p.m.: Fish and chicken dinners sponsored by Alpha & Omega Church of God in Christ will be available for $6.50 each at Evans Automotive, corner of Lakeside Drive & 441 North.
8 p.m.: The Theater Program at Georgia College & State University opens its revelatory new season Women in the Spotlight: Plays by Women with Sarah Ruhl’s widely acclaimed drama, Eurydice, in Russell Auditorium. This area premiere transforms the tragic myth of Orpheus and Eurydice into a contemporary love story. Tickets are $12 for general seating, $8 for GCSU faculty and staff, non-GCSU students and Senior Citizens and $4 for GCSU students.
Sunday, Oct. 5
12:30 p.m.: The annual Nunn and Wheeler Cemetery Reunion will be held at the cemetery in Wilkinson County. Bring a picnic lunch, your own chairs and plan to enjoy an afternoon of fellowship following the business hour. Anyone wishing to make a donation towards the cemetery up-keep and is unable to attend the reunion, please contact one of the Trustees.

2 p.m.: The 11th Annual Central State Hospital Memorial ceremony will take place at the Mary Brown Pavilion on Vinson Highway. A reception will follow at the Central State Hospital Auditorium. During the reception guests will be able to tour the Central State Hospital Museum or take a shuttle to the newly named Jasmine Ridge Cemetery, which opened in 1959.

Monday, Oct. 6
8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.: Flu shots area available at the Baldwin County Health Department. The flu shot is $25 and the FluMist is $35. They are available at no charge to those on Medicaid, PeachCare and Medicare Part B. No appointment is necessary. The pneumonia vaccine is available and recommended for all persons 65 years or older and anyone under 65 years of age with a chronic illness.
