Parents wait to buy school uniforms

Scott Teague
The Union-Recorder

After nearly a month into the school year and the first year of voluntary elementary school uniforms, principals at Baldwin County schools say many parents are waiting to buy the new uniforms.

Parents have told Principal Diane Becker of Creekside Elementary that they’re waiting until the fall or winter to buy the uniforms, Becker said.

“While a lot of our parents had bought some, several parents have told me that as the children start wearing winter clothes they’ll buy the uniforms and get that transition done,” she said.

The uniforms, made of a polo shortsleeved shirt or a button-up shirt and khaki or navy blue jumpers or “skorts” (skirts with shorts sewn in) are optional this year but will be required next year.
