Milledgeville Police Department

— Domestic dispute
Michael Andre Hurt of a Brooks Street address was arrested May 10 for battery and criminal trespass. Hurt allegedly struck his girlfriend, Katrina Heirs, in the face with his arm as she was bending down to pick up a phone he had thrown to the floor. The strike caused her considerable bleeding, a busted lip requiring stitches and a loose tooth. Hurt was charged with battery and was also charged with criminal trespass as a result of violating a Milledgeville Police Department notice of prohibited entry served to him in February. The state solicitor’s victims assistance office was notified of the incident and advised the victim had received a family violence brochure and a victim’s assistance brochure, a police report states.

— Vehicle burglary
Someone entered a Ford U-Haul style truck belonging to the Salvation Army, 420 S. Wilkinson St., sometime between 5 p.m. May 8 and 6 a.m. May 9. Tools were found missing from inside the cab, a police report states.

— Trespass
Three individuals were trespassed from a West Martin Luther King Drive rental property on Saturday at around 8:20 a.m., a police report states.

— Gas drive off
An unknown person pumped $104 worth of gas at the Jet Food Store, 1740 N. Columbia St., and drove off without paying on Saturday morning at around 8:30 a.m., a police report states. A Milledgeville police officer was able to make contact with the individual, who paid for the full amount of the gas, a police report states.

— Shoplifting suspect
A black male wearing a white T-shirt and black pants was witnessed concealing merchandise in his pants by store employees at CVS Pharmacy, 1400 N. Columbia St., May 10. After a store employee had confronted the man, he gave store merchandise back to her and proceeded to exit the store. As he exited, the store alarm detected that he may have had more store property on his person. Milledgeville police officers searched the area but did not find the suspect, a police report states.

— Church break-in
Someone entered Freedom Church, 500 Underwood Road, between 6:15 p.m. May 9 and 3:49 p.m. May 10 by kicking in the door of the church office. A search of the property found that nothing had been taken or disturbed, a police report states.

— Vehicle of interest
At 8:20 p.m. May 10 a Baldwin County sheriff’s deputy spotted a vehicle that matched the description of one flagged with a “Be On The Lookout,” or BOLO, and attempted to get behind the vehicle to read the tag. Before the officer could read the tag, the vehicle turned onto another road. The officer continued to follow and eventually “blue lit” the suspected vehicle; however, once the sheriff vehicle’s lights were on, the driver sped up and ran a stop sign at the Hancock/Irwin road. The officer immediately disengaged from the traffic stop and last witnessed the vehicle traveling southbound on Irwin Street, a police report states.

— Armed robbery
Three women had returned from the Milledgeville Wal-Mart to a Pine Valley Road address and were accosted by a dark-skinned male wearing blue jeans or dark-colored pants and a ‘Polo’-type shirt with wide blue and black horizontal stripes and red and white horizontal stripes and a white collar, a police report states. The women stated the suspected demanded their purses. After the women handed over their purses the suspect ran across the yard and into a waiting vehicle that contained two to three other male subjects. There are no suspects yet, a police report states.

— D.U.I.
Peter Chandler Merritt, 23, was arrested for D.U.I. in the area behind Zaxby’s around 3:55 a.m. May 11, a police report states. According to the report, an officer observed Merritt’s vehicle improperly parked, and upon investigation found Merritt behind the wheel of the vehicle. Merritt stated he had been drinking heavily at a party and was on his way home to his West Montgomery Street residence and had simply parked behind the Zaxby’s, a police report states.

— Assault warrant issued
A warrant was issued for Rico Simmons, 20, of a Leo Court address, for allegedly hitting his girlfriend, 17-year-old Brittney Dumas, with his hands, fist and a handgun, a police report states.

— Suspicious vehicles
A white Grand Cherokee and a Green Ford Explorer were found with their driver side doors opened at Title Pawn Title May 11, a police report states.

— Construction theft
Someone entered a construction site at 410 W. MLK Drive between 8:30 and 10:20 p.m. May 11 and removed three Hitachi framing nail guns, three air compressor hoses, three electrical extension cords and one eight-gallon air compressor, a police report states.

Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office

— Lost/stolen decal
Sometime between May 9 and May 11 someone removed a decal off a black Nissan Ultima located at a South Jefferson Street address. The decal was placed on GCIC and the case remains active, a sheriff’s report states.

— Damage to property
The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of someone throwing a rock through the window of a 2003 Toyota 4 Runner as it was being driven down Log Cabin Road, causing damage to the rear window of the passenger side of the vehicle, a sheriff’s report states.

— Gas drive-off
An unknown individual driving a gray pick-up truck pumped $49 worth of gas and drove off without paying from the Friendly Gus convenience store at 118 Highway 49, a sheriff’s report states.

— Boat recovered
At around 9:30 p.m. May 10 the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a floating pontoon boat discovered abandoned on Lake Sinclair. A check of the registration number found that the number belonged to a boat reported stolen May 8 by a Baum Bay Drive resident. The individual who discovered the boat was advised to tow it to the Bass Boat house, where the owner and sheriff’s deputies arrived to examine the boat. After a close examination, the owner stated it did not appear anything had been taken from the boat, a sheriff’s report states.

— Burglary
Sometime between 6 p.m. May 8 and 5 p.m. May 10 an unknown person or people entered 110 Smith St. and removed a heating and air conditioning unit from the property. Due to rain moving through the area, officials were unable to retrieve fingerprints or any other evidence from the scene, a sheriff’s report states.

— D.U.I.
Daniel Brian Moore, 18, of a Streamwood Drive address, was arrested for D.U.I. May 11 on Macintosh Street outside the Baldwin County Courthouse parking deck, a sheriff’s report states. A deputy was on the upper level of the courthouse when he heard a loud noise that sounded like a “vehicle striking a metal object” and “spinning tires.” Upon entering Macintosh Street he observed a red extended cab Chevy truck exiting the lower level of the lot and turning onto Macintosh Street. The deputy initiated a traffic stop and observed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on Moore’s breath. Moore stated to the deputy that he had struck a pole, after which the deputy observed more damage to the passenger side along the rear of the truck, a sheriff’s report states.
