Cultural Connection along with Georgia College & State University Continuing Education Department host a community celebration of Black History, "Building the Bridge to a Brighter Future", at 7 p.m. nightly at GCSU Russell Auditorium. The program features historical skits, cultural dance interpretation, praise dance, stepping, gospel singing, hip hop, and an outreach across the nation of Russia. Basket maker Jessica Pitts will conduct an intermediate pine needle basket making workshop in Milledgeville from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Allen’s Market Building, 101 W. McIntosh St. Participants will learn three new fancy stitches as well as how to incorporate walnut slices, beads and other items into the construction of the basket. Intermediate level students must have taken Jessica’s beginning level class or have previous experience working with basket coiling techniques. All supplies will be provided. Registration is $50. Katie’s Krew holds its 5th annual Juvenile Diabetes Resarch Foundation charity poker run. Registration begins at 10 a.m. at the American Legion Hall on the corner of Log Cabin Road and Hudson Road in Milledgeville. Kickstands up at 11 a.m. Entries are $20 per hand and $5 for each additional hand. Best hand wins $100, second best wins $50, and worst hand wins $50. Georgia’s Old Capital Museum hosts “Norvell becomes Ollie; the making of a star in Milledgeville.” This exhibit examines Norvell Hardy’s formative years in Milledgeville from 1903 to 1913 from his arrival as a shy 11 year old to his departure as a striving young actor. Taking his father’s name, Oliver goes on to become "Ollie" as part of the famous (Stan) Laurel & Hardy comedy team. The exhibit is free and open to the public and is located at Georgia’s Old Capital Museum, Old Capital Square at Greene and Jefferson Streets in the historic district of Milledgeville.

n Adult Learning Center at Central Georgia Technical College holds morning classes Monday through Thursdays from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., afternoon classes Monday through Wednesday from 1:20 p.m. to 3:20 p.m., and evening classes Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Orientation and screening are held once a month. n Harriet’s Closet, a free supply closet to help fill the needs of cancer patients, is open from noon to 4 p.m. each Monday in Room 413 of Oconee Regional Medical Center. n The Old Capital Museum located in Old Capital Square at Greene and Jefferson Streets in the historic district is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Museum admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $3 for students, and children six and under are free.
n The Old Governor’s Mansion is open for individual and tour groups. The tours are conducted from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. n The Old Governor’s Mansion museum store is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. The store is a part of the Old Governor’s Mansion and Auxiliary Services of GCSU and features books and unusual gifts for every occasion.
n The Mary Vinson Memorial Library hosts Frank’s Friends, a book nook located on the second floor in a corner all its own. Used books, DVDs, VHS, and audios are available at reasonable prices. Frank’s Friends is open Monday and Tuesdays 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., Wednesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Frank’s Friends is donation based with all proceeds going to Friends of the Mary Vinson Memorial Library who provide children’s programs and other activities throughout the year.
n Jimmy Helms an Elton Parks perform jazz and variety music at 119 Chops on the first, second and third Tuesday nights.
