Charity offers thanks, requests community involvement

MILLEDGEVILLE — This year marks the 25th anniversary of The Empty Stocking Fund, sponsored each year by area businesses, clubs and individuals to provide holiday food boxes to the area’s needy families. The program started by feeding 10 families the first year, and has grown to a distribution of over 400. We would like to invite all Milledgeville-Baldwin County organizations and citizens to join in the support of this effort.

All contributions collected go directly toward the cost of food items for the boxes. Each contains enough staple food, fruit and dessert to provide a full meal, with leftovers, to a large family. The are no administrative costs involved, and the people at Johnny McDade Grocery provide the food items and the labor to box them up for the families.

Because of your past generosity we have been able to help families throughout this past year, not just at Thanksgiving and Christmas. We hope to feed over 425 families this Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Please make your check payable to The Empty Stocking Fund, and either drop it by Bayne’s Army Story or mail it to 118 S. Wayne St. Thank you, and a happy holiday season to you and yours.
