MAY: The Milledgeville Lions Club thanks supporters

MILLEDGEVILLE — The Milledgeville Lions Club would like to thank the people of Milledgeville/Baldwin County for supporting our club at its recent spaghetti supper fund raiser at Crocketts Family Restaurant. A special thank you to Krogers, Piggy Wiggly North and the Golden Corral for their support in keeping our cost down. We appreciate all the hard work that Alan and Francis Crockett and their staff do preparing the food and using their restaurant. Our annual spaghetti is one of our main fund raisers.

The monies raised are used to help people here in our community, state and internationally.

The club provides free eye and hearing screenings and provides about four pair of glasses per month to our citizens; thanks to the partnership of Dr. David Ritchie. This past year through the Georgia Lions Lighhouse in Atlanta our club provided three free eye surgeries that has resulted in each person to regain their vision so that they could continue to work.

Last summer three vision impaired children from our community were able to attend the Georgia Lions Camp for the Blind in Waycross. Without the support from our community the Milledgeville Lions Club would not be able to provide these services to those who need them.

Some other projects of the Milledgeville Lions Club are to sponsor an International Peace Poster Contest and a highway clean up. Our next major project is our Fish-A-Thon at the Baldwin County Recreation Department on Saturday, May 17. With the assistance of the Baldwin County Fire Department we provide cane poles and bait to kids ages five to 13 to fish in the main pond. Last year a child caught a 12-inch catfish; it was the very first time he had ever gone fishing.

Thank you Milledgeville/Baldwin County,

Paul May

Milledgeville Lions Club President
