A tribute to Leslie Osborne The Union-Recorder Recently I heard a doctor on TV talking about the mind-body connection. There is a trend now to teach the medical students how to treat the whole patient. Leslie was one of my chemo nurses for the past two years. She had a sixth sense for knowing what each patient needed other than chemicals.
It seemed like she knew every patient and their families. She knew which ones needed attention and which ones needed something else. I sat in the chair next to her desk. She had a small heater under her desk. We were both cold natured, and she would aim the heater my way. There was a patient who didn’t have a car. When this person couldn’t find a ride, Leslie would transport her. There are too many things to mention. I did not see Leslie after she started to work at the nursing home in Sparta. I hear that she loved her job. She made good use of her time while she was on this earth. Leslie was devoted to her family. She shared pictures of her little girl from birth. Several months ago, she left the Georgia Cancer Specialists to be near her little girl. Leslie was tragically killed in an automobile accident last month.
