Georgia Power management great to work for The Union-Recorder An article in your paper asked for volunteers to help clean up the lake on Oct. 22, 2008. Georgia Power sponsored the event and provided everything including the use of a dozen or more vans and trucks. Most of the volunteers were Georgia Power employees with the help of many others.
I was assigned to a team of about eight men and taken to several sites to clean up the trash on the side of roads and bridges. I got to talk to many of the employees to find out that Georgia Power is a great company. Not one complaint from anybody; they even liked the supervisors and managers and all seemed to be very happy employees. After being in business for 40 years, I can tell you this is very unusual, almost unheard of. Georgia Power management is doing something very right. After all the teams picked up a dumpster full of trash, we returned to the power plant to receive tee shirts, light bulbs, door prize tickets and a very nice lunch. I feel lucky to have been a part of the effort to help clean up the lake and will do it again next year, it was the best five hours I have spent in a long time. Milledgeville should be proud of having such a good company and employees in this area. Ron Rowland Milledgeville
