Effort to pick up roadside litter was a huge success

I wanted to update you on the accomplishments that we made in Milledgeville/Baldwin County recently.
With all efforts demonstrated by GMC, community volunteers, KMBB Board Members, and GDOT we picked up 556 bags of litter, which equated to approximately three tons of trash removed from several of our community’s roadsides!
It was a wonderful sense of community pride to see our leaders such as Tara Peters, Mervin Graham, Angie Gheesling, Marion Nelson and many more giving back to our community by making the time to join in with our efforts.
It is so easy to sit back and dictate what needs to be done to solve our problems, and it is invigorating to see our leaders take action and be willing to participate to resolve some of our community’s averse issues.
A big thanks to our chairman, Col. John Thornton and all of the GMC students who demonstrated such eminent civic duty and leadership.
What a shameful example is set to see our school children picking up behind our citizens.
We have had some community visitors this week and we have Grass Roots this weekend, so this event was great timing to remove some of the blight from our main corridors into our community.
Thanks to all who have supported this effort. It brings forth much pride to see leaders join together for the betterment of our community.
