Baldwin County Fire Rescue has deemed yet another fire at an abandoned trailer on Belfair Drive as arson.

Two stations with Baldwin County Fire Rescue including the Central State Hospital Station and the Hardwick Station responded to the fire at an abandoned trailer at approximately 2 a.m. Sunday.

The fire, which destroyed the trailer, also caused damage to another neighboring trailer that is also unoccupied, said Baldwin County Fire Rescue spokesman and firefighter Brandon Barth.

“It was another vacant one and it did blister the siding on a neighboring trailer that was also vacant as well,” said Barth. “The home was destroyed. The fire consumed half of it and the other half received extensive smoke damage.”

The fire was ruled arson Monday after further investigation, which makes it the fifth home on Belfair Avenue that was investigated and deemed arson in several months.

“I believe that makes five arsons on Belfair,” he added.

Officials are still seeking help in the arrest of a suspect in the incidents and a reward of up to $10,000 is being offered as incentive to anyone who can give information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible, said Barth.

“There’s up to a $10,000 reward leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect who committed arson at any of the abandoned homes on Belfair,” he said.
