Get out and vote

Campaigns are starting to heat up.
The big day, Nov. 7, is fast approaching, and a lot of jobs hang in the balance.
I’m speaking, of course, of politicians. Their jobs are on the line.
Whether you are conservative or liberal, lean toward Democrat, Republican or independent, please vote.

Enforce current laws

I walked into Monday’s Planning and Zoning meeting in support for the proposed ordinance limiting the number of unrelated people living in a single-family residence to three.

Early detection is key

I admire women who survive the emotional and physical trauma of breast cancer. They’re brave, courageous, strong and determined women.
A diagnosis of breast cancer brings fear to women, and I’ve had my scare with the disease. More than 15 years ago, I went through the agony of uncertainty. I had a bloody discharge that circled my blouse and gripped my reality of my own mortality.
I discovered the problem on a Friday but didn’t tell anyone. My family had a big dinner party planned for the following day. I couldn’t possibly disappoint my family and our friends. I stuffed tissue, kept a smile on my face and my secret to
myself.
I’d never had a mammogram. I had not reached the preferred age of 40.

Forums

Because many participants were taking advantage of our forums and violating
forum rules, The Union-Recorder online forum has been removed from our Web
site temporarily. We understand that this is not a popular move, but it
seems to be necessary at the moment.

While we gladly welcome and accept constructive criticism, the forum has
deteriorated to the point that it can no longer be tolerated.

That said, we will restore the forums in the near future, with new
guidelines that have a narrower, clearer focus. Posts that violate our
forum’s terms of service will be summarily deleted at the Web master’s
discretion.

We apologize for the interruption in the forum’s use, and thank our
participants for their patience as we continue to move forward on this
issue.

Sincerely,
