Holiday classic comes to local stage

MILLEDGEVILLE — The 18th anniversary performance of The Nutcracker, presented by the Georgia College Department of Theatre and Dance, will be performed at Russell Auditorium next month.

Performances are slated for 7 p.m. Dec. 13-14 and 2 p.m. Dec. 15. Tickets are available online at www.gcsutickets.com or at the door before performances.

This year's show will feature 240 dancers from the GC Community Dance Program and the Dance Minor Credit Program. It is directed by Amelia Pelton.

The Nutcracker Ballet is based on the story "The Nutcracker and the King of Mice" written by E.T.A. Hoffman. The beloved ballet tells the story of a little girl named Clara who is given a magical nutcracker doll on Christmas Eve. The stage performance features The Party Scene, The Fight Scene, The Land of Snow, The Land of Sweets and the dream finale.
