Peaceful Pet Crematory provides final rest for pets

Pets hold a special place in every pet owner’s heart.

When a beloved pet dies, it can feel like losing a member of the family and saying goodbye can be painful.

“At Peaceful Pet Crematory, we understand your grief and we want to help,” said crematory office manager Dianne Johnson. “Our whole staff is made up of pet lovers, and we know firsthand how it can feel to lose a pet that was dear to you.”

The Peaceful Pet Crematory (PPC) offers a variety of services to residents of Baldwin and surrounding counties to help get them through the difficult and often distressing time of a pet’s death. One of the services the PPC offers is pick-up service from residential locations or veterinary clinics.

“The residential pick-up fee is $25 for a Baldwin County location. It varies for locations outside of Baldwin County,” Johnson said.

Peaceful Pet Crematory staff is available to pick up a pet’s remains Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., but these are not hours that are set in stone. Emergencies may happen after crematory hours and on weekends.

“The number is on the door, and all calls are forwarded to me directly. We will make every effort to work with you to meet your needs, no matter what time it is.” Johnson said.

According to Johnson, many pet owners choose cremation because it provides a way to keep a pet’s memory near.

“Because we form deep bonds with our animal companions, it is only natural that we want to respect and remember them,” said Johnson. “With cremation, owners may bury or scatter some of their pet’s ashes in the yard or other favorite place that their pet enjoyed.”

The PPC offers private or communal cremation. With a private cremation, a pet is placed in the cremation chamber alone. The ashes are returned to the owner in a temporary urn along with a Certificate of Cremation. With a communal cremation, pets are cremated along with other companion animals. The remains are not returned.
