Welcome to the jungle Distinguished Young Women

Nine juniors vie for Distinguished Young Women titles

MILLEDGEVILLE — Nine high school juniors are vying for one of two coveted Distinguished Young Women titles during the local program’s showcase this week.

The girls will showcase their talents and knowledge to the audience at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 2 in the Goldstein Center for the Performing Arts on the Georgia Military College campus. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at the door.

The theme for this year’s show is “Welcome to the Jungle, Here Us Roar.”

A panel of judges will critique each girl in the categories of interview, talent, scholastics, fitness and self expression. The winning Baldwin County DYW and Milledgeville DYW will be awarded a $1,500 cash scholarship. Both girls will advance to the state level this summer.

For more information about the DYW program, or to donate to the local program, call Sara Stone, chair of the local program, at 478-456-8738, or visit www.ajm.org.
