GCS holds fishing rodeo for cancer patients, families

MILLEDGEVILLE — Georgia Cancer Support (GCS) founders Robbie and Danny White invite cancer patients and their families to a fishing rodeo this weekend as a way to enjoy the outdoors and learn proper fishing techniques with professional fishermen.

In partnership with Jay’s HOPE Foundation, the event is slated from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Gordon and Denise Beal’s pond, located a 141 Salem Church Dr.

A hay ride and face painting activities will be available for children.

Those interested in attending, must contact the White’s by Thursday in order to be included in the head-count for a lunch of hamburgers and hot-dogs and a T-shirt.

Papa John’s Pizza locations in Milledgeville, Dublin, Macon, Warner Robins and Perry will support GCS from May 21 to June 24 by donating $1 to the nonprofit for every $9 large, two topping pizza is ordered online using the promotional code GCS.

The mission of GCS is to serve Georgia cancer patients and their families by providing support and resources in all areas with a focus on the needs of each patient. GCS officially kicked off Jan. 1 of this year and the nonprofit plans to continue ministering and providing excellence through networking, researching, education and community service. Volunteers, educators and outreach workers work together to make a difference in every patients life.
