Campus Club students chosen for Berklee summer program

MILLEDGEVILLE — The Berklee College Five-Week Summer Performance Program has accepted three students from Campus Club Milledgeville to attend the largest, most comprehensive music program available in the world.

Baldwin High School sophomore Thomas Stewart IV, junior J’barri Mar-Shall and senior Patrick Kelsey are among nearly 1,000 participants at all levels of musical abilities from across the country and around the world receiving scholarships to attend the summer program in Boston.

The summer program will begin July 7 and conclude Aug. 10 at the Berklee College School of Music facility where young musicians of all instruments and styles will play in ensembles, develop improvisational and reading skills, improve their technique through weekly private lessons, and enjoy lectures and demonstrations by well-known faculty and visiting artists.

As part of the Campus Club Milledgeville Join the Movement Fundraising Campaign, the three students will raise funds to cover the cost of travel and lodging since the Berklee scholarship includes the tuition fee.

Campus Club Milledgeville is a year-round arts and enrichment center designed to serve the millennial generation ages 8 to 26. The nonprofit organization serves Baldwin, Jones, Hancock, Putnam, Washington and Wilkinson counties. A variety of music, dance, theater, writing, art and language courses are offered, focusing on the creativity in youth. All the services are for free to those who need it most.
