Flower lovers from across the community are encouraged to make a trip to the Milledgeville Mall Friday and Saturday to help support the Oconee Valley Iris Club during its annual Iris Plant Sale.
Oconee Valley Iris Club Secretary Ruth Meier told The Union-Recorder that her club’s annual Iris Plant Sale is a great event for buying irises at a great price.
There will be display pictures of all the plants, and each one sells for $5. Oconee Valley Iris Club members will be on hand to answer any questions.
The sale will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or until all plants are sold, Saturday. The sale takes place at the Milledgeville Mall.
The Oconee Valley Iris Club Annual Iris Plant Sale helps raise money for club functions throughout the year. The club holds two annual plant shows in November and April, and club members participate in the annual Southeastern Flower Show in Atlanta.
The Oconee Valley Iris Club’s Fall Flower Show will take place Nov. 14 at the Milledgeville Mall.
Meier said that this year the club is looking to raise money for next year’s Regional Iris Meeting, in which the Oconee Valley Iris Club will host Iris enthusiasts from the Southeast region, including Georgia, the Carolinas, Florida and Puerto Rico.
The Regional Iris Meeting will take place from April 23-25.
Meier said the Oconee Valley Iris Club is a friendly group of people who are dedicated to learning and sharing information about plants and gardening.
