Spooky Activities

The Union-Recorder

Through Oct. 31

The First United Methodist Church sponsors its second annual Pumpkin Patch at the church at 366 Log Cabin Road. It will be open until Oct. 31. All proceeds benefit the church. The Homebuilders Sunday School class has taken this on as their project. For more information, call the church at

(478) 452-4597.

Friday, Saturday and Monday

The third annual Ghost and Goblin Tour sponsored by the Gordon Better Hometown association will be held Saturday, Oct. 28, and Monday, Oct. 30. Volunteers dress as ghosts of citizens past in Gordon. This is a history lesson with a bit of fright and fun to boot. Confederate re-enactors shoot at Union soldiers as well as a re-enactment of an actual gunfight that occurred on Main Street. The tour begins at 7 p.m. at the newly renovated Gordon Depot and ends at the graveyard. For more information, please call Kelly Dennard at (478) 628-1682.

Friday and Saturday

n Haunted woods and pumpkin carnival at the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Macon. From 6 to 8 p.m., the Museum’s auditorium will be transformed into the Pumpkin Carnival. Kids 3 to 12 years old can wear their costumes and enjoy ‘bat juice’ and ‘spider cookies.’ Capture the memory of this celebration by having a picture taken in the Pumpkin Patch for only $2. Then crawl through the Bat Cave and make a Fall craft to take home. Win prizes or candy in several fun games. Show off your best moves in the Spider Disco. Admission for families with a Museum membership is $4 per child and non-member children are $5 each. Every child can bring in one accompanying adult for free!

n The brave and curious, ages 9 and up, will be beckoned to the Haunted Woods from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. For 50 years the Museum’s Loblolly Trail has been home to spirits and is open only on these special nights. Venture as far as you dare onto the Museum’s Haunted Trail, but watch out for the ghosts! Try to avoid all the creepy crawlies in the Abandoned Cave. Remember to protect yourself from chills and spills by wearing hiking shoes and warm clothes. This spooktacular tour is only $4 per person for Museum members and $5 per person for non-members. All of the proceeds from the evening’s events will support educational programming at the Museum.

n Don’t miss this weekend of spine-tingling, fun programs at the Museum of Arts and Sciences. The Museum is located at 4182 Forsyth Road in Macon. For more information, call (478) 477-3232 or go to www.masmacon.com.

Saturday

n Montpelier United Methodist Church, 449 Sparta Hwy., holds a Fall Festival sponsored by the children’s ministry from noon until 3 p.m. Games, food, prizes and hayrides are scheduled. Admission is free.

n The Twin Bridges Fire Station annual Haunted House will be held from dark until 11:30 p.m. Refreshments and treats for the kids will be served. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children under 10.
