Crime Digest, August 17-19, 2013

MILLEDGEVILLE — The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.

Milledgeville Police Department


While patrolling the area of Highway 49 Aug. 9, an officer observed a vehicle traveling faster than the posted speed limit in a school zone. The officer initiated a traffic stop in front of the Georgia State Patrol Post. While talking with the driver, the officer smelled a strong odor of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle. The officer was given permission to search the vehicle and found a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana in the front passenger's left sock.

Entering Auto

Officers were dispatched to a Heritage Road address at approximately 6:18 p.m. Aug. 15 in reference to an entering auto call. The complainant stated that when she went out to her car she noticed that the driver’s side door was not closed all the way. Half a roll of quarters, which was sitting in a cup holder, was reported missing from the vehicle.

Theft by Taking

Officers were dispatched to a Clark Street apartment Aug. 15 in reference to the theft of an air conditioning unit. A woman told officers that she discovered her brand new air conditioning window unit was missing from her home.

Criminal Damage to Property

A man reported discovering damage to his vehicle Aug. 13. while it was parked at a Karen Circle address. The man stated that while he was with his friends at the location, his girlfriend showed up and became upset with him. When he told her to leave, she picked up a concrete brick and threw it at the windshield of his vehicle.
