MILLEDGEVILLE — Baldwin High School will accept nominations for its School Council, an organization consisting of parents. Nomination forms can be found in the front office and the deadline is 4 p.m. Aug. 28. Electronic submissions will be accepted from www.baldwinhighschool.net.

Georgia DoT will suspend lane closures for Labor Day weekend starting noon Aug. 30 and extending through 5 a.m. Sept. 2.

The Kiwanis Club of Milledgeville will be hosting the 2013 River Rat Race at the Oconee River Greenway Saturday, Sept. 21 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Pre-registration ends Sept. 2; you can register online at www.kiwanisclubofmilledgevillega.org, by mail (PO Box 1327, Milledgeville, Ga. 31059) or at Oconee Outfitters, 133 E. The third annual Old Capital Fall Festival will be held at the Old Midway School, 725 Irwinton Road, on Sept. 7. All vendors are welcome. Registration for the Backyard Classic Auto and Motorcycle Show will take place from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. The festival will feature a live band and a comedian. On Sept. 11 from 4:30-8:30 p.m. a Kids Community Party will be held at 341 Horne Ave. There will be food, face painting, fun and swimming. Please bring your own towel. For more information call 478-363-3225.

Thursday, Aug. 29

10 a.m.-2 p.m.: Harriet's Closet, a free supply closet to help fill the needs of cancer patients, is open. The nonprofit organization dedicated to helping cancer patients in Central Georgia has relocated next door to Georgia Cancer Specialists at Oconee Regional Medical Center. Noon: The Rotary meets at the Country Club.

Noon: The Eatonton Kiwanis Club meets at Central Georgia Tech on the James Marshall bypass.

12:30 p.m.: The Eatonton Duplicate Bridge Club, an official member of the American Contract Bridge League, meets at the Plaza Arts Center, 305 N. Madison Ave. in Eatonton. For more information contact Betty Roper at 706-467-3079.

2-5 p.m.: Free HIV testing at 900 Barrows Ferry Road. 478-445-5518.

3-5 p.m.: Digital Bridges Open Computer Clinic is open in the Knight Community Innovation Center, 127 W. Hancock St. Work station availability is limited. The clinic is designed to teach basic skills to adult beginning computer users. Participants may come with specific questions or for general knowledge. 5:30-7:30 p.m.: Baldwin High School will hold Open House in the Fine Arts Auditorium/Commons area.

7:30 p.m.: Bingo is held at the American Legion Post 523 on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Refreshments will be sold. 478-452-1611.
