The Fifth Annual Old Capitol City Classic 5K Road Race and 1-Mile Fun Run is accepting pre-registration until Aug. 21. The event is sponsored by the Oconee Regional Healthcare Foundation and will be held at the Medical Center, 821 N. Cobb St., on Aug. 31. The Georgia Department of Labor Milledgeville Career Center will host the Mobile Vet Center on Aug. 23 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at 156 Roberson Mill Road. The mobile center will provide counseling, outreach and referral services to veterans and their families to help them readjust to civilian life.

Baldwin High School will be accepting nominations for its School Council, an organization consisting of parents. Nomination forms can be found in the front office and the deadline is 4 p.m. Aug. 28.

Wednesday, Aug. 21

7:30 a.m.: Lake Oconee Promise Keepers meets at The River of Life center on Scott Road. Jack Minchey 706-473-0431.

10 a.m.: The American Legion “Davis Watson” Post 237, Hardwick, meets in the Birdsong Recreation Building at the Georgia War Veterans Home, 2249 Vinson Hwy. S.E. All Legion members are urged to attend. For more information call John W. Griffin, Sixth District Commander at 478-453-0295.

10:30 a.m.-noon: Free computer classes for seniors will be held at the Senior Citizens Center in Baldwin County.

10:30 a.m.: VIP, a support group for visually impaired persons, meets at the First Presbyterian Church, 210 S. Wayne St. 478-452-1444.

Noon: Milledgeville Exchange Club meets at the Milledgeville Country Club.

1 p.m.: Falun Gong exercise class will be held at Central City Park (formerly Bonner Park) free of charge. Cultivate mind and body with five sets of easy-to-learn exercises good for all ages and all physical conditions. For more information call 478-453-4241.

1-3 p.m.: Digital Bridges Open Computer Clinic is open in the Knight Community Innovation Center, 127 W. Hancock St. Work station availability is limited. The clinic is designed to teach basic skills to adult beginning computer users. Participants may come with specific questions or for general knowledge. 5 p.m.: The Central State Hospital Local Redevelopment Authority meets in City Council Chambers at City Hall.

6 p.m.: The Oconee Regional Medical Center/Oconee Regional Health Systems, Inc. Board meets in the Administrative Suite Board Room.
