The Fifth Annual Old Capitol City Classic 5K Road Race and 1-Mile Fun Run is accepting pre-registration until Aug. 21. The event is sponsored by the Oconee Regional Healthcare Foundation and will be held at the Medical Center, 821 N. Cobb St., on Aug. 31. The Georgia Department of Labor Milledgeville Career Center will host the Mobile Vet Center on Aug. 23 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at 156 Roberson Mill Road. The mobile center will provide counseling, outreach and referral services to veterans and their families to help them readjust to civilian life.

Thursday, Aug. 15

8:30 a.m.: The Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce Full Board meets in the Chamber Boardroom at 130 S. Jefferson St.

10 a.m.-2 p.m.: Harriet's Closet, a free supply closet to help fill the needs of cancer patients, is open. The nonprofit organization dedicated to helping cancer patients in Central Georgia has relocated next door to Georgia Cancer Specialists at Oconee Regional Medical Center. Noon: The Rotary meets at the Country Club.

Noon: The Eatonton Kiwanis Club meets at Central Georgia Tech on the James Marshall bypass.

12:30 p.m.: The Eatonton Duplicate Bridge Club, an official member of the American Contract Bridge League, meets at the Plaza Arts Center, 305 N. Madison Ave. in Eatonton. For more information contact Betty Roper at 706-467-3079.

2 and 3 p.m.: The Learning In Retirement Book Club meets at First Presbyterian Church, 210 S. Wayne St. The book selection is Richard Paul Evans’ “The Road to Grace”. The Writers Group meets afterward with the continuation of memoir writing.

2-5 p.m.: Free HIV testing at 900 Barrows Ferry Road. 478-445-5518.

3-5 p.m.: Digital Bridges Open Computer Clinic is open in the Knight Community Innovation Center, 127 W. Hancock St. Work station availability is limited. The clinic is designed to teach basic skills to adult beginning computer users. Participants may come with specific questions or for general knowledge. 5:30-7 p.m.: The Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce hosts Business After Hours. Call 478-453-9311 for the location.

6:30 p.m.: The John Milledge Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, meet at the Milledgeville Country Club.

7 p.m.: The Milledgeville Lions Club meets at the Golden Corral on North Columbia Street.

7:30 p.m.: Bingo is held at the American Legion Post 523 on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Refreshments will be sold. 478-452-1611.

7:30 p.m.: Lake Country Twirlers is a square dance club that meets at the Harmony Association Building on Highway 44.
