MILLEDGEVILLE — Baldwin County Schools will hold kindergarten registration for children 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2013. Registration will be held weekdays March 18-29 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Birth certificate, proof of residence, current immunization form, eye, ear and dental forms and a social security card are required. Mark the Magic Man will host a benefit performance at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 16 at the Baldwin Fine Arts Center. Proceeds from the performance will go to the Baldwin GIVES program. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. VIP seating, which includes reserved seats on the first three rows and a backstage pass to meet and greet the cast, are $25. Tickets are available at Elite School of Gymnastics on Log Cabin Road, from any Baldwin GIVES volunteer, The College and Career Center at Baldwin High School, or Z-97. Ocmulgee Court Appointed Special Advocates is looking for volunteers for its next training session. CASA is a non-profit organization that works with abused and neglected children that have found themselves involved in the court system through no fault of their own. These children need a voice in court and that is the role of CASA to see that these children have an opportunity to have their voices heard and to received services needed. Beginning in April and May IMPACT pre-service training classes to become a foster or adoptive parent will take place. They will be held in Gray and are free. For more information call 1 (877) 210-5437 or (478) 445-7020.



Saturday, March 9

7 a.m.: Registration for the Relay for Life Relay Race will take place at Baldwin High School and go until 8 a.m. The race will begin at 8 and the Kid's Fun Run will start a 9. To pre-register or to learn more contact Pam Tindal at (478) 454-8490.

8 a.m.: Yoga at the Greenway has moved indoors to Blackbird Coffee. Bring a yoga mat and/or towel. All ages welcome. $3/1 hour session.

8 a.m.: The 100 Black Men of Milledgeville and Baldwin County meet at the Baldwin County Recreation Center on Highway 22. Mentees meet at 10 a.m.

8 a.m. to 4 p.m.: The Lake Country Beekeepers Association conducts a Beekeeping Short Course in Sparta at Elm Street Gardens. Pre-registration fee is $40 or $45 on the day of the program. There is a $10 fee for each additional family member and children under 18 with an adult are free. Registration includes a “First Lessons in Beekeeping” book by Dr. Keith Delaplane, handouts, one-year family membership in the association, refreshments and lunch. Preregistration is encouraged. 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.: The Oconee Regional Chapter of Project Linus meets in the Education Center of Park Tower at Oconee Regional Medical Center. The Chapter is open to anyone who wants to provide needy children with a comforting blanket. Attendees should bring their lunch.

3 to 5:30 p.m.: Author Stacy Lawrence-Campbell of Sparta will be participating in a book signing for her debut novel “Dream Girl Awakened,” published by Simon and Schuster. The book signing will be held at the CJE Foundation, 2866 Highway 22, Sparta. The event is free and open to the public and there will e-books available for purchase.

Monday, March 11

Noon to 4 p.m.: Harriet's Closet, a free supply closet to help fill the needs of cancer patients, is open. The nonprofit organization dedicated to helping cancer patients in Central Georgia has relocated next door to Georgia Cancer Specialists building at Oconee Regional Medical Center. Noon: Fifties Plus meets at the Milledgeville FUMC on Log Cabin Road and is open to everyone. For more information on meetings and lunch, call the church office at (478) 452-4597.

4 p.m.: American Legion Morris-Little Auxiliary Unit 6 meets at 231 Log Cabin Rd. All members are urged to attend. For more information call Carrol Griffin, Unit 6 President at (478) 453-0295.

4 p.m.: The Baldwin County Board of Registrars holds its monthly meeting in Room 104 of the Baldwin County Courthouse.

5 to 7 p.m.: Mary Vinson Memorial Library and Digital Bridges host a Computer Clinic at the Library, 151 S. Jefferson St. The clinic is designed to teach basic skills to adult beginning computer users. Participants may come with specific questions or for general knowledge. 6 p.m.: Mary Vinson Memorial Library, 151 S. Jefferson St., will host a free movie screening of “Looper” (R). For more information contact Sarah Hamil at (478) 454-0677 ext. 120.

7 p.m.: BINGO is held at the American Legion on Log Cabin Road. No one under the age of 18 is permitted. Refreshments are sold by the Ladies Auxiliary. (478) 452-8538

7:30 p.m.: Milledgeville Jaycees meet at Walter B. Williams Jr. Park.

7:30 p.m.: The Oconee River Buskers Square Dance Club meets at the Walter B. Williams Recreation Center.
