MILLEDGEVILLE — Northside Baptist Church, 1001 N. Jefferson St., will hold a Christmas Extravaganza Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. A nursery will be available. There will be a variety of church choirs, ensembles, soloists and instrumentalists featured. A lover offering will be taken to benefit the Baptist Collegiate Ministries Summer Mission Programs. Everyone is invited and refreshments will follow.

The Old Governor’s Mansion presents its Christmas at the Mansion tours Dec. 3-23. Candlelight tours will feature: Music by Sweet Georgia Sound (Dec. 7), the Milledgeville Singers Guild (Dec. 14), the First Baptist Church Handbell Choir (Dec. 19). On Dec. 11 from 1 to 3:15 p.m. the Max Noah singers will perform in the rotunda.

Milledgeville Main Street introduces Downtown Dollars, gift certificates to support local businesses. They can be purchased in denominations of $5 and can be used at more than 30 locations downtown. The 2012 Georgia River of Words exhibition is open and available for viewing from now until early December at the Mary Vinson Memorial Library, 151 S. Jefferson St. River of Words is an international environmental poetry and arts project that is coordinated by Georgia Project WET and the Georgia Center for the Book. 4 p.m.-6 p.m.: Former University of Georgia football coach at athletic director Vince Dooley will sign copies of his books and other memorabilia at the Milledgeville Kroger on North Columbia Street.
